Chainsaw Art #3 'Fish Eagle'
My third chainsaw carving, and another big leap in terms of the endresult. Like the previous Tawny Owl, this one came out of a big log of spalted Berch. Some minor errors aside, am I very pleased with the endresult! This really looks like an Eagle, not a 'parrot' that people saw the 'sneakpeak movie' (before this one). I still don't have a smaller chainsaw so I have to use my trusty Dremel with engraving bits to finish it up. I am very pleased how the talons and head came out, the serious facial expression and the powerful talons make you immediately recognise the bird. Since this one came out quite good I plan on buying a small chainsaw (Stihl MS 192CE) and sell future sculptures. This carving was made in Hortus Haren, the botannical garden in Holland I work in. Next: perhaps a.... No wait, or what about....
