Photoshoppers are artists in a sense. Artists have enough trouble to begin with. If it gets food on the table for them then don't ban it :|ShitachiLover
Don't ban it - that's dumb, but make sure that all edited images carry a clear caption to say that they have been modified. The problem is that the human mind is nowhere near rational enough to handle seeing digital perfect without feeling inadequate in comparison.zer05ummedia
i wanna know where to get photoshop softwear like that....help?? :)LetsgoClubin
If you want to ban this, I have to tell you that you are, to begin with, too superficial, and second, you're an egoist. How many people do you think would loose their life's sustenance because you fail to accept yourself? Photography and photomanipulation are art, the photos in magazines arent meant to represent reality, they are meant to achieve beauty, that has always been the object of art, to achieve beauty, and notthing is ever too beautiful. It may not be true, but art, isnt reality.RayneRockstar
To be entirely honest, I think photo retouching is rediculous and vain. As they said nobody can achieve that perfection so why put it in magazines and intimidate readers who may be ignorant to the fact that those photos are retouched? Do I think retouching should be banned? No, of course not. There should be balance. Maybe they could ease up on how much they use photoshop and to what extent. Banned = No. Ease up = yes.noboundariesnb
Photoshop retouching is a form of art. Photomanipulation in general is art, just like paintings or drawings. It's just a digital media instead of traditional. This is really ridiculous. To ban retouching is pointless, only putting people out of work.alexilaiho2009
Ugh, I hate this kind of thing. I hate it when people look for faults in things that really don't bloody matter. So, you feel self-conscious when you see an image in a magazine? DON'T BUY THE MAGAZINE. Leave it on the shelf. I think retouching is fine, if anything, it's one of the more obscure forms of art.eggxmagnet
this is stupid. theres a problem with the masses, not the photos. and really, they dont change that much its still the same person.XgaarafanX
That's been going on for centuries. The statues in ancient civilizations like Rome and Greece were like our magazines today. The perfect body with the perfect proportion of muscles. Of course they couldn't get to such perfection.6pack1
How about we just ban clothing in genneral ;D6pack1
I agree.angelus2402004
This is bull. That's all I have to say about this... bull.SKplayz170
lol, her voice sounds SOOOO fake xDfarfarawayfromyou
You actually want to BAN retouching? That's the most stupid thing I've heard this week.SarahA314
I was a retoucher at Entertainment Weekly and have also overseen retouching for several magazines. Virtually all images are corrected for color, exposure, etc... but not retouched. Images which are retouched usually involve minor fixes such as removing pimples, scars, fly away hair, lightening dark circles under eyes and softening, not removing wrinkles. It's been my experience that "frankenstein" retouching usually is performed by photographers, not by the magazine publisher.serrano07642

I will lose part of my job if retouching is banned lol. also, I agree that the "pursuit of perfection" has gone to far. And yes, I know it's wrong :(MoNyOh
Everyone should stop dieting! Don't get me wrong if they are in fact too porky and have been told by a PROFESSIONAL then that's okay, assuming you're fat is just wrong!pinkkitti123
Its funny how magazines say "oh, everyone knows its fake!" when your average person even to this day is unfamiliar with the term Photoshop. The term is no where near as recognized as say, Big Mac lol. Hah. Credit the Photo Retouchers/Editors... I agree they should bring that to light... but they won't. It wouldn't be good for business... think about it. If people think an image ALL images are edited, they wouldn't have the incentive to get all the makup sold on magazines. Bye ads+revenue.CodeXCDM
Haha, people need to stop blamming things on technology. Its the people in the business that are the problem, not the technology they are using. Society needs to be more educated, not limited further.ZeF2007inc
id like to photoshop her hahacmanleyspy
Hah... yeah, it is a bit luddite, isn't it? I bet Adobe laughs at this sort of request.sobeita
Alexis, you are a f*cking moronkingalbundi
This sort of thing is inevitable, I'd say. I don't think it's possible, or even practical, to ban photo editing. It's a shame. I think it's important for people to realize that this sort of thing also goes on with male models as well... except with two differences: one, the guys have twenty-four seven diets and workouts, as well as muscle implants, and two, men aren't allowed to complain about it or they aren't "manly." We have to pretend to ignore the press and then base our lives on it anyway.sobeita
Might as well ban plastic surgery and make up!!!!!! Even if the photo is retouched the person's natural look is still there.gatraw
