| heck man im rereading this book now!! | mrsmurphymcmannus27 |
| On a lighter note, I enjoyed the rapid ageing of the book across the 3 videos. Even as a blink-and-you'll-miss-it visual gag, I was oddly heartened/saddened by it :) | garethac81 |
| Catcher In The Rye isn't depressing. While I was watching this video, I noticed it had been invaded by an advert running along the bottom of the viewer window for "Bare Make-up Essentials". THAT'S depressing. | garethac81 |
| Catcher in the Rye is my favourite novel of all time and ever since my first read-through of it, I've been trying to grasp that significance, that quality that makes it so emotionally powerful. Your videos have made it so much more clear. thanks. | naseoj |
| This is the first video of yours that I have seen. You remind me of Zefrank. You have a very similar style of vloging. | RunningWithSkizors |
| I love when old ackley knocks the shit out of Holden, that was the best part in the first half maybe the whole novel. | DonofNY |
| I just finished Catcher in the Rye, and I'm so stupid-I never made the connection between Allie and the red hat. But, the very ending, with the carosel, in the pourng rain, literally mad me cry. And the part where he says "You could never rub off all the f- you"'s if you had a million years", made me so sad. It was an awesome book, though. And this video was awesome, too. | Theyoungestprincess |
| my 8th grade language arts teacher wouldn't let me read The Catcher in the Rye because it was too depressing...I read it anyway. and twice since then. and this is definitely one of my favorite videos ever. | iluvpunk |
| I just read this book for the first time in english, and I am completly enthralled with it. I don't really know WHY, but I just love it. And I agree with what you said about how different the past Holden is compared to the Present Holden. When past Holden says "I was crazy, I swear" It shows that he knows he was out of his mind, and gives us hope that he's..not necessarily "Better" but...healthier now than he was at the beginning of the novel. Great analysis! | liecheatnsteal38 |

| I love this book and really loved your insight. The enthusiasm is infectious. You should try a critique of irvine welsh (trainspotting). Now there's a challenge for you! | Sneakerpimp79 |
| Don't you hate that? when you really wanna talk to someone about something important, but you jsut know they won't get it. Even if they do understand, they just wander off untroubled by your insights and do something lame and fake, like call someone they don't like so they can later talk to their friends about how they tried to talk to that person. | Valkes |
| So I just found out my roommate hates Catcher in the Rye, and it made me sad =) But she's on the phone with someone else, so I can't argue about it with her yet. But I'll stick up for it, haha. Promise. <3 | thephantommilk |
| Wow I didn't expect an answer from you ! You should analyse some other books! It almost made me cry how beautiful it was...1984, Lord of the flies, Ender's game (haha no this one's a joke did you read it?)... I absolutely loved this video!! Keep it up man!! | Cooldsunshine |
| Thanks, Katie! -John | vlogbrothers |
| Sometimes I do other book analysis, but usually in live chats on blogtv. I also write books of my own. -John | vlogbrothers |
| Shit that was awesome!! Does he makes any other book analysis? | Cooldsunshine |
| this is one of the most insightful views on this book i've ever heard. i'm going to see if my teacher will play this video in class. really, this is awesome. | katiefaceex3 |
| Why have I never read this book? Probably has something to do with going to school in 7 different school systems, thereby not experiencing the wholeness of one English program. | sparkybish |
| well john maybe if we used... what is that the other...90%?...of our brain maybe we could feel everyone elses feelings without being overloaded. | supereryn |
| This is one of the few books I liked the ending of, I hate most endings, but I loved the ending of this book. It's up to the reader to decide if it is "unsatisfying" because it depends on what is going to satisfy you in a book, which differs from person to person. | FancyNewAmie |
| ROTFLMAO @ the end of the video | FreeHugsHugger |
| hahaha well, thats your opinion i loved the ending | fmableachdbz |
