Quick Beatmatching - DJing For Dummies
How to beatmatch REALLY quickly (on vinyl and on CD). Useful when you don't know if your next tune will be faster or slower than the one playing. This is meant as an 'initial' beatmatch - you'll still need to listen to, and refine the beats during the mix. I've left the crossfader in the middle, so you can hear both tunes playing. In 'real-DJing' you'd listen to the new tune in your headphones while performing this beatmatch. Taken from www.recess.co.uk - which is the support site for my book, DJing for Dummies

| do you where i can get drum loop for mixing at? | mrwtfpos |
| its how i learned... though i was one of few who used this technique, its good for beginners :) then when there ears are trained they can use better methods | DJJimCowley |
| ye dude you can get beats matched in seconds after how many years of practice?? well wouldnt take years but the piont is that this technique is good for beginners as there ears arent as well trained as experienced djs.... the reason this is good for beginners is because its just a matter of bringing back slowly untill they get it near right :) plus this is dead easy to understand .... | DJJimCowley |
| awesome dude.... when i got my decks years ago i had no internet and nobody to teach me how to get the beats.... and this was the way i learned myself.... i dont use this technique anymore but id well recommend it to beginners as its just a matter of slowly slowing it down untill you find the perfect speed... good video man glad to see this technique up here :) | DJJimCowley |
| awesome tip, never heard of it before now....Thanks | jasperibe |
| would this technique work with hardstyle as i always find it hard to match the beats cause theres a lot going on in the back ground also i have the cortex hdtt 5000's quite a few people find them hard to use any tips would be great thank you | dazCO2 |
| I've been Djing for 15 year and thought I've seen it all......I've never heard of starting with the pitch all the way up. Very wierd. | DJCKBaltimore |
| thanks, i rlly love it and i am glad that ppl still make things i am currently building a guitar and a bed mby this will b my nxt project | jpmma95 |
| I built it myself. It's just standard wall brackets with a bunch of contiboard built and cut into the unit. I keep meaning to post photos onto my website for a 'how-to' - I'll sort that and get in touch. Glad you like it. | DJRecess |

| dude where did u get ur table the one that holds ur kit in it. its sick | jpmma95 |
| Another tip if your using the 1000's make sure you have master tempo on so if your beat starts to wonder off it doesnt make that woooooop noice when you speeding the track up to get it back to sync.....Nice Vid 2 | ShannonEly |
| nothing says this is wrong really i mean its not very practical i'll give you that but he gets it done in good time i'd say. Problem is it takes an acute ear to be able to match it without any tricks but for beginners this would most likely help. | jezeus420 |
| Well another thing u can consider is that House tracks usually run from 125 to 130 so thats a verry small margin. Also using just your plain old ears works. I can beet match without having to do all that in a matter of seconds. Sheesh ive never seen a DJ take the pitch all the way like that. If your going to teech do it right!! | karimharara |
| @benjiyid - I wasn't. In this video, 'Secretly' was always playing on the CD deck - the first time round I mixed in 'Sacred' from the Turntable, and the second time round, I mixed into 'Yeke Yeke' on the turntable. Or have I mis-understood your question? | DJRecess |
| why was he using the same tune on both turntables | benjiyid |
| nice setup! | Corega132 |
| The cue button, when pressed, makes a virtual marker. For example, if I want to keep going back to a certain point in a song, I would put a cue point there, so whenever I press the button, it'll take me straight back. | ShatteredHillStudios |
| Goddamn, it's a lot harder to do it virtually .... I mean I just wish I could feel the disk spinning ! (Only using Traktor for now) | enjoypolo |
| @TranceFawEver goes back to your cue point ! | DJPecarlo |
| what does the "cue" button do? i've never used it because i never knew what it does. | TranceFawEver |
| lmao the tigger on dah turntanble | estreetz11 |
| this really works!! thanks allot !!!! | thugsnr1 |
| Thanks 4 tha info...I've checc out ellaskins(I think that his title name); and he also said use tha pitch..2 be honest I really don't have a clue about technics, all I know is 2 put vinyl or serato on it and go from there. Tha technical part...clueless.. aka Blaze | analher |
